Kosmos Train by Janine Graubaum

Janine Graubaum is a Berlin based photographer for people, lifestyle and documentary. She works for German agencies and magazines. For her project “Kosmos Train” she received a scholarship by VG Bild-Kunst and was nominated at the Alfred Fried Award 2015.

Kosmos Train is a photo documentary essay that shows daily life in images of people in Eastern Europe trains. Mostly the old trains that are the last survivors of Soviet Union times that became nuisance to the locals. But if you watch precisely a unique parallel universe will unfold itself within the wagons tight bellies. Time stands still for a very long moment. Dandling they carry you and your thoughts to distant destinations.
