Faces. Feelings. Texture by Steven Gindler

Steven Gindler is some nerd with a camera in New Jersey.

When I first picked up my father's old rangefinder, I found it the perfect tool to circumvent my social anxiety. The camera was my instrument, my voice. It was a wall I could put up in front of people so that I would feel comfortable in social situations. I could be a fly on the wall. Now, the camera helps me break walls down.

There is something intimate about portraits. I find that you have to fall in love with every subject just a little bit in order for your images to stand out.

The most challenging aspect of creating portraits is taking the time to allow your subject to be comfortable enough to allow you to capture more than just their face.
