The Longest Day by Dia Takacsova

Dia Takacsova is a Slovak photographer and blogger interested in cultural and social issues, often dealing with questions of identity and memory of place. She is also a passionate traveler, usually seeking lesser told stories while heading east or north.

There is a small community and an untouched land where the sun doesn't set for months. Located between Norway mainland and the North Pole, Svalbard inspired humans to explore, conquer, push boundaries and to seek places far away from reality. The patterns are constantly repeating - and so are the symbols. Arctic silence, harsh landscapes and humans are becoming one, yet we all feel very small. One cannot be born or die here, but this is often an escape: so what are you running away from?
